Ethanol Expert Phil Lampert to Speak at 2009 PCATS Annual Conference

ALEXANDRIA, VA The Petroleum Convenience Alliance for Technology Standards (PCATS)

today announced that Executive Director Phillip Lampert of the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition (NEVC) will be the Wednesday luncheon speaker at the PCATS Annual Conference on January 26-29, 2009.

Mr. Lampert’s luncheon presentation, Ethanol: The Only Growth Sector of Transportation Fuels, is scheduled on January 28 from 12:45 – 1:30 p.m. Mr. Lampert is a frequent participant on federal agency panels and Congressional hearings dealing with energy and environmental issues and promotes the use of E85 and other high level blends of ethanol across the nation. He has been engaged with the NEVC since February 1993.

NEVC is the primary national advocacy group advancing the use of 85 percent ethanol as a form of alternative transportation fuel. The NEVC is comprised of the Governors’ Biofuels Coalition, the National Corn Growers Association, state corn growers associations, Chrysler, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Nissan, equipment manufacturers, ethanol producers and distributors.  The NEVC supports the production of ethanol from both agricultural commodities and biomass.

“This is truly a historic milestone for PCATS and we are glad that we can be a part of this vital industry conference,” said Phillip Lampert, executive director of the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition. “I applaud PCATS and their commitment to the industry as well as their motor fuels technology standards efforts. We appreciate the progress made with industry payment system product codes to include renewable fuels.”

The four-day gathering also features luncheon speakers Dr. Suzanne Miller president of TurboPCI and Vice President of Member Services Michael Davis of The Association for Convenience & Petroleum Retailing (NACS). The Annual Conference addresses payment card industry compliance planning, how to build a successful business case, the essentials of bare bones project management as well as business and technical challenges and solutions.

“If you haven't attended the PCATS Annual Conference before, this is the year to come,” said retiring PCATS Executive Director and CEO John C. Hervey. “This is one of the most significant industry meetings for those in the convenience petroleum retail channel. We are looking forward to celebrating our accomplishments and success over the last five years since the inception of PCATS as a non-profit association.” The PCATS 5th Anniversary and five year member celebration is being held on Tuesday night at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville - Universal CityWalk® — an exclusive event for conference attendees only.
