The Petroleum Convenience Alliance for Technology Standards (PCATS) announced today that the Point-of-Sale Back Office Interface Standards Committee will be meeting at the 2009 PCATS Annual Conference to be held the week of January 26, 2009, in Orlando, Florida.
In making the announcement, David Ezell, chair of the POS Back Office Committee, stated, "At the 2009 PCATS Annual Conference, our goal is to continue to work toward the completion of the PCATS-NAXML POS/Back Office Interface Version 4.0. This new version will be easier to implement and to test. It will also be easier to certify, which is a really important point for retailers who expect the standard to work ‘out-of-the-box'."
Mr. Ezell added that, "Among the new features in Version 4.0 will be enhanced tax tables, better support for POS configuration, and the ability to handle QSR data requirements. The committee will focus on the data model - the 40,000 foot view of what we're proposing, the schemas - the actual implementation of the standard, and the use case instance documents - useful for understanding the design and supporting certification documentation."
Scott Wood, Director of Standards at PCATS, stated, "The POS Back Office Interface Standard Version 3.4 is the most widely deployed PCATS standard with thousands of implementation world-wide. The committee has been very diligent is responding to the needs of retailers as they develop the newest version - 4.0."
Mr. Wood stressed that, "For any of the PCATS standards to be successful, input from the retailer community is vital. For this reason, we encourage all retailers regardless of membership status to attend this committee meeting to ensure the new version will meet their expectations."
