Minneapolis, MN – At the recent X9 All Committees Meeting Awards Banquet, X9 Executive Director Steve Stevens presented  Alan Thiemann, representing NACS and Conexxus, with the Extraordinary Contribution Award for his work on the development of ISO 12812 Mobile Banking.

The Accredited Standards Committee X9 Inc. (known simply as X9), is the leader in developing technical financial industry standards. The organization’s mission is to develop, establish, maintain and promote standards for the financial services industry to facilitate delivery of financial services and products.

In addition to representing NACS and Conexxus, Thiemann is chair of the U.S. Mirror Group and a U.S. representative to the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee on Core Banking (ISO TC68/SC7/WG10).

“Alan is a driving force behind the standard development of ISO 12812 Mobile Banking and has kept the work moving forward,” said Stevens.

“NACS and Conexxus have long realized that technology is increasingly used to set policy, and that open standards are the only way to ensure that those technologies foster competition and innovation,” said Gray Taylor, executive director of Conexxus. “Alan’s passionate support of Conexxus, as general counsel, has carried over to his work at X9, driving global standards in data security, mobile payments and payment data that support our industry’s interests.”

X9 is the ANSI-approved standards body for technical financial standards.  In addition to the mobile standards work, Thiemann serves as chair of the Finance Committee and is vice-chair of the X9AB Retail Committee and is X9’s incoming treasurer. He also co-authored “Part 5: Mobile Payments to Businesses,” leading U.S. efforts to make the standards relevant to all types of mobile payment technologies and to provide clear requirements, especially in securing mobile payments.
