The Conexxus Retail Financial Transactions Committee developed and maintains a set of industry product codes for use in payment system messages. These codes define fuels and general merchandise products and services by assigning them a specific three-digit number. Host payment systems, along with vendors, are encouraged to adapt their systems to utilize these codes so that standard product definitions are maximized for the benefit of all users.

As the Chair of the Retail Transaction Committee at Conexxus, Sharon plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of retail transactions. In her role as Lead Product Manager at WEX, where she has been for the past 13 years, she focuses on the acceptance of the WEX card and the maintenance of its specifications.

A key achievement in Sharon’s career is their leadership in the development of the EMV Fleet Specification, a groundbreaking standard that is currently being adopted across the industry. This work has had a significant impact on improving the security and efficiency of fleet transactions.

Sharon’s deep expertise and long-standing commitment to innovation make them a vital contributor to the advancement of payment systems and transaction processing within the industry.

Todd Horinek is the Director of Payments Technology at Phillips 66 where he manages the payments technology design, development, and implementation efforts for all branded and unbranded locations in the U.S. including the fuel brands of Phillips 66, 76 and Conoco.   Todd brings 24 years of experience developing innovative retail applications in the petroleum and convenience industry point of sale systems, for the processing of electronic payment transactions.

Todd started his career with Conoco Inc. in 2000 as an Analyst in Marketing Technology, supporting the development and certification of point of sale systems, and has held multiple positions within the company.   During the merger of Phillips Petroleum and Conoco Inc., Todd managed the Point of sale/Network help desk operations for the newly formed ConocoPhillips.  He consolidated four heritage helpdesks into one centrally located operation where his group provided support for point of sale issues, back office, and network communications for all branded locations.

Prior to joining Conoco Inc. Todd worked at Sykes Enterprises Inc. managing the client relationships of Fortune 500 companies.  With Sykes, Todd provided customer contact management solutions and services in the business process outsourcing (BPO) and contact center arenas. 
Todd is currently located in beautiful North Central Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plains.

Chuck Young is the Chief Technology Officer for Impact 21 and with good reason. Through his 40+ years in the retail industry, over 30 of them in petroleum/convenience, Chuck has become an expert in the world of retail IT. He works with retailers both large and small to implement and leverage retail technology stacks that drive efficiencies.

During his 20+ years of project management and consulting with Impact 21, Chuck has worked with retail chains ranging in size from eight stores to several thousand.  The scope of the projects ranges from selecting and implementing new payment platforms and Point of Sale (POS) upgrades to integration of technologies and automated processes into the retailer’s business model. He has managed and completed projects including EMV certification, deployment initiatives for Back-office / Home Office implementation, requirements analysis & solution sourcing for POS, Back-office and Home Office hardware and software, and an ongoing modeling and analysis program for the franchise network of a major oil company.

Chuck’s go-to philosophy is that of Francis Bacon—“Ipsa scientia potestas est”—translation, “Knowledge itself is power”. It is no surprise then that Chuck lends his knowledge to others as an active member of Conexxus, a participant in various committees and work groups, and a semi-regular speaker at the NACS Show and other industry events.

Though Chuck currently resides in Lexington, KY, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in his home state from Cornell University. Chuck is an active member of his Catholic parish and hits the golf course any chance he gets.
