About the Speakers
Ed has more than 40 years of retail systems experience in the convenience/petro (The Pantry) and grocery (Purity Supreme & Shaw’s) retail channels, including most recently as a consultant at W. Capra Consulting Group providing strategic, operational, and project leadership to retailers, emerging businesses, and technology companies. His involvement in the industry continues as a Facilitator to Study Groups and as an independent consultant through Collupy System Solutions. He has served the Convenience/Petro industry as Chairman of the Board of Advisors of Conexxus and as a member of the NACS Convention Content Committee. Ed also has written and participated in on-line forums focused on retail technology. A New Englander at heart, he graduated from Suffolk University in Boston, attended Harvard’s Executive Education session, Delivering Information Services, and now living on Cape Cod he is very active in the community serving on various boards and committees.
Chris Egan has more than 15 years of technical leadership in the c-store industry, including work with brands like Speedway and United Dairy Farmers. As CIO of United Dairy Farmers, Chris brings a deep experience in new solution development combined with strong commercial skills to help shape the tech strategy for the brand. Prior to stepping into his role as CIO, Chris served as Director of Technology and Applications at UDF. While at Speedway, Chris directed new innovation and an IT team supporting point of sale, credit, loyalty, and emerging technology.
Zach Andersen began his convenience store career as a summer intern with the Pantry Inc. while pursuing his degree in information technology and software engineering. He was a key leader in the successful integration of the IT retail systems from the Pantry and Circle K when Alimentation Couche-Tard, parent of Circle K, acquired the Pantry in 2015, and now serves as Director of Enterprise Architecture for Circle K. He was included on CStore Decisions 2018 “40 under 40” list of next-generation leaders committed to delivering excellence and moving their companies forward.
Abbey Karel is VP of Business Development for Convenience at Bounteous. Prior to this role, Karel led the largest and most strategic client relationships at Bottle Rocket (an Ogilvy Company) and was an Ogilvy Top-25 Global Client Leader. She also helped pioneer native applications for Kohl’s and JCPenney, as well as both brands’ in-store digital innovation. With a background in Mobile Product Management in retail, Karel’s focus at Bounteous is on deeply understanding clients’ needs to optimize global teams throughout the product lifecycle and driving strategic, long-term partnerships centered around co-innovation.
