Forecourt Payment Terminal

The Conexxus Forecourt Payment Terminal Specification defines the XML protocol for a store system to control a payment device residing on a fueling forecourt, either within a pump or as a stand-alone pedestal. The protocol covers the ability to manage transactions using magnetic stripe cards, chip-based cards (EMV), and NFC (contactless) cards for credit, debit, loyalty, and fleet transactions.

This Specification and protocol specifically address the unique properties of an outdoor payment device, which not only provides card payment capabilities for purchasing fuel, but also provides an interface with customers in loyalty programs, car wash sales, and potentially indoor merchandise sales. The intention is that these devices would interface to a terminal controller which is likely part of the electronic payment server, point of sale, or a stand-alone part of the store system.
